As you can see by the pictures, Pomeranians are constantly changing in color and appearance.

I thought at 8 weeks this puppy would be dark in color .I was surprised.

At 16 months, probably no one would have kept this dog but a novice. Notice I was not an experienced groomer when it came to trimming.

At 2 years of age after much practice at trimming I took him to his first show. he was Reserve WD and the Judge said he had too much coat and appeared larger than the winner. the next year, I took him to a Master Poodle groomer who had the Pom Reader as a guide. I said " make him look as small as possible." The groomer did as I asked and I cried. But at his next shows, he won both days .I think I finally began to see the light .I shows him 5 times that year and he won 4 times at age three.

At age four, I showed him 6 times .t one show, he was BOB over a top Pom and now he needed 2 majors and 1 point.

At age five, he was reserve winners dog to a 4 pt major. a very cute puppy won. Two weeks later under a breeder judge he won his first major and BOB over a nice special and made a group cut of only 6 dogs. Another breeder judge gave him another point.

We traveled to California where he finished. He was entered in a total of 18 shows and 5 years old when he obtained his championship. He has all his teeth and will show for no one but me. I am thrilled i have shown my first Pom to his championship.

I won with many Pekingese but never finished one all by myself. So-maybe you don't have that pretty puppy , but with patience and time your older dog can still become a Champion.
