Toilet Training your Pomeranian Puppy
Description: Toilet Training your Pomeranian Puppy. I have decided to put something up about house training as I receive so many emails regarding toilet training or should I say toilet training gone wrong! House training your Pomeranian puppy requires much patience and perseverance in the first weeks. If you have purchased your puppy from a reputable registered breeder your task will be so much easier. Puppies born and reared in dirty condtions will be very hard to house train if not impossible to completely house train. Most registered breeders will have already commenced training your new baby to potty on newspapers or a litter tray Number one rule is to restrict puppy's unsupervised access to your home. The biggest mistake anyone can make is to bring your new Pomeranian baby home, let baby run around your home for a few days going to potty anywhere and then deciding to start potty training. Your home will smell like puppies potty place everywhere and your task will be a lot harder and slower to achieve. The Pomeranian puppy is kept in a playpen with clean newspaper down, food, water and a comfortable bed at the other end of the playpen. The Pomeranian puppy sleeps in this area and when I have to go out I leave the baby Pomeranian confined to the playpen.

Dog Training Resources
Description: Dog Training Resources. Dog Training – Early Training Is Essential Dogs are a wonderful edition to any family but like all youngsters they need training. If you do not train your puppy now it will take a serious amount of help from a training school to get him to be obedient later on. Puppies just like babies learn mostly in their early years and unfortunately will also pick up the bad habits also. Early attention will save you heartache later on and give you more quality time. Dog training requires simple persistence to be a successful and delightful experience for you and your dog. Make you puppy training easier and more fun by understanding that your puppy is trying to communicate with you in other ways than barking or wagging his tail.

Clicker Training for Your Pomeranians
Description: Part I: Happy Training Shaping your obedience dog into a winner by using a conditioned reinforcer, without using physical corrections, will be the subject of this mini-series. It makes training a Ahappy@ time for you and your dog. So arm yourself with a clicker or whatever you prefer to use but I would recommend the clicker. Bring some special treats (please ¾ not your pom=s regular kibble!) and let=s get some more pomeranians in that obedience ring. (Conformation people can use this too ¾ its not just for obedience). Shaping is a relatively new technique used for obtaining desired behaviors. Because it uses no physical corrections, the technique lends itself very well to our little breed. So we can get rid of the choke collars. Some of this training can be done with no collar at all, providing you are training in a secure, fenced area only, of course. In order to shape behavior rapidly and effectively, you must use a distinct signal, such as a touch or a noise that marks the instant the right action has occurred. After the signal, puppy is given something she likes, such as praise, petting, food or toys. Although the food or praise tells puppy you are pleased, the marker signal is actually more important because it tells her exactly what she was doing that earned the reward. That information makes it highly likely that she will do the behavior again. The noise must be distinct, something easily discernable from other noises puppy hears regularly. The toy clicker works very well, however, you can use a tongue cluck, a single word, however, the clicker is faster and much crisper.

Housebreaking
Description: One of the most important tasks you have when you get a new puppy is housebreaking. Housebreaking a puppy requires a lot of patience, and a lot of persistence. You cannot expect a puppy to be trained in one day- that is impossible. A young puppy may have an occasional accident for several months if not let outside soon enough. This may become a nuisance to you, but keep in mind that it took you a couple years to be potty trained!

Carting" with Pomeranians
Description: The Pomeranian, or Toy Spitz as it is called in Germany, might be the smallest of the Spitz, but is just as versatile as the larger varieties of the breed. This is certainly true of my Pomeranian Ch. ‘Paper Moon’s Body Guard’, or ‘Chips’ for short. He’s already 10 years young, and, due to his bright and alert nature, always open to new activities. The days of showing and travelling are in the past now, but the life of a retiree is not meant for a lively Pomeranian like Chips! So, we got a new hobby called ‘Carting’.
